GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) is a UHF personal radio service allocated 8 frequency pairs and 7 non-paired frequencies in the 462 MHz and 467MHz bands.
GMRS was intended to facilitate the personal business of the licensee and his/her immediate family. GMRS is a radio service where you CAN discuss your personal business. Your own commercial and/or family activity can be conducted on GMRS. GMRS was not intended to be a hobby-type radio service. Citizens with valid communication needs use GMRS radio channels everyday. That can't happen if the frequencies are used for hobby communication.
I have the GMRS repeater active in the Council Bluffs, Iowa area. It is The 25 watt repeater on the 462/467.550 frequency and it has a DPL (DCS) of 754. I have two repeaters that I can use on this system, the R-100 is down for repair right now.
Here is the predicted coverage. It is intended to cover Council Bluffs and the interstate around town. It is a local machine and open to the public.

All users are required to be LICENSED for the GMRS service and identify with their call signs at the end of their transmission and every 15 minutes during a conversation. No swearing, clicking or horseplay. Emergencies take priority over all other communications. Below is a chart of GMRS (and FRS) frequencies with some local notes. Below that
chart is a picture of our local repeater.
